At the time of writing most of the summer migrants have arrived and every bush it seems has a singing male common Whitethroat on it, and the large patch of cow parsley has got its quota of singing Sedge warblers.
Yellow Wagtails have been scarce this spring but one was seen during the first week of May on the Naze green by the swings. Sandwich, Common and Little terns have now all arrived and can be seen fishing off the naze, a good place from where to see Little terns is in front of the Tamarisk seawall.
The odd Wheatear is still being seen but numbers appear to be down on recent years, also House Martin and Swallow can be seen everyday on the Naze but this year there would appear to be no Sand Martins breeding on the Naze and only a couple have been seen flying through.
Over the last couple of weeks we are starting to see a number of Fulmars, four were seen over the first weekend of May.
There has been a number of Redstarts seen here as well but over all migrant numbers would appear to be down overall this spring, lets hope this is just due to birds not stopping over as opposed to fewer birds making back.
One unusual record is of a African Yellow Fronted Canary seen feeding on Niger seeds at a bird table obviously an escape but still lovely to see.
